What both players think of the each other in this Tournament
We are at it again and this time it’s the Monte Carlo Masters on the watch with some of our most-watched players. We will be seeing the likes of Marin Cilic, Grigor Dimitrov, Dominic Thiem, Novak Djokovic, and of course the two most sought-after players in the present tennis world; Alexander Zverev (world no.4) and world’s number one Rafael Nadal.
Zverev had a few things to say about Nadal and so did Nadal have something to say about the upcoming match. For one, we are happy that Nadal has made a smooth recovery and is ready to play in the gruelling clay courts.
Alexander Zverev has acknowledged he’s happy to be in the other quota of the draw to Rafael Nadal at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The world No 4, who has two Masters 1000 titles to his name, has been given a bye for the first round.
In the wake of being crushed by Nadal in the Davis Cup for Germany, Zverev named the 31-year-old as the best player ever on clay.
Nadal goes into the clay court swing hoping to protect his thin 100-point lead at the highest point of the world rankings and comes into the Monte Carlo Masters as 10-time champion.
Nonetheless, after hip damage saw him skip Indian Wells and Miami, he needs to develop steam in front of the French Open one month from now.
Zverev then again hasn’t been reluctant to blend it with the best and he has stealthily disclosed he is satisfied to maintain a strategic distance from Nadal for the moment, in spite of the fact that he would like to meet him in the last.
At the point when requested his contemplations on the draw and not confronting the Spaniard he stated:
“Yes it is a bonus, but I still have great players in my half of the draw. It doesn’t mean we will play in the final against each other. We have both got to get there first and both win matches. Hopefully, he can do that and hopefully, I can do that and see how the week goes.”
Zverev will confront the champ of Florian Mayer and Gilles Muller in the second round.
